Story: Paradox’s Despair – Chapter 91

91.

Paradox yawned and stretched as he put his arm around Silver but he suddenly gasped. She wasn’t there and he jumped up. “SILVER!”

“Sssssilver isn’t here. Come on Paradox, you need to come back to me… Didn’t you enjoy drowning in your dessspair?” Long shadowy tendrils rose around him and Paradox gulped.

“Go away.” Paradox closed his eyes. “Lilly saved me from you.”

“Come with me… I’ll ssshow you what they all really think of you…” The shadow grabbed Paradox’s wings and wrapped around them. “You’re a monsssster… ssshe will never marry the monssssster that dwellsss within your sssoul…”doxnightmare“NO! I’m not going with you! NO!” Paradox sat up in his bed and started gasping he looked around in his bedroom and saw Silver looking at him worry on her face.

“What happened Doxy?” She asked.

“Oh! Silver, you’re here… My sweet love.” Paradox put his fingers through her mane. “Don’t leave me Silver, please.”

“I’m here Dox, I won’t leave you.” She leaned against him. “I love you.”

“I love you too. Don’t leave me. I’m not really a monster, I’m not.” He gulped as he looked into her eyes.

Silver kissed his muzzle. “I know you’re not a monster. I know who I fell in love with.” She stared into his beautiful blue eyes as she kissed him. “I will forever think about how I can fly in the blue of your eyes getting lost but yet never lost because I would be a part of you forever.”

He sat up and pulled her to him. “Silver, its back, and it wants to drag me down again, I have to tell Lilly and Dad.”

“What is it?” Silver asked.

“I don’t know… but it said it needed me to fall back into despair again.” He let out a shuddering breath. “I don’t want to go back… I don’t ever want to be in that darkness again. I had nightmares that would last for days or weeks at a time. A demon would haunt me in those nightmares. I couldn’t see this demon, but he’d be there, whispering poison into my ears. At times I would think it was best if I just ended my life. I almost did a few times. I don’t want to be there again Silver. I don’t.”

“I won’t let it get you Doxy.” Silver said gently. “I’m here for you.”

A few odd hours later:

Twilight entered the throne room and she looked at Discord. “Celestia drank the potion. Now Discord, tell me the secret to getting you out of my head?”

He sat up and gave Twilight a box. “In that box is your key to getting your mind off of me.”

She looked at the box. “What is in the box?”

He shrugged then smiled. “I don’t know, but don’t open it here!” He put his paw up before she lifted the lid of the box.

She looked at him warily and looked at the box suspiciously. “You’re just trying to make fun of me. I won’t take this.” She put the box down.

“Have it your way then.” He shrugged. “How’s Celestia by the way?”

“She fell asleep as soon as she drank the potion. Did I give it to her correctly?” She asked as she stared at the box.

“Twilight, that potion is a zebra remedy, I guess it was a good thing I had given Zecora green turbulent water from beyond the Crystal Mountains. That water is very rare. I really don’t know how well that potion will work.”

Twilight looked worried, “What if Celestia never wakes up?”

“That isn’t my problem.” He muttered. “But, I think she’ll wake up.”

Twilight looked at him for a long moment without saying anything.

He started to get itchy under her stare. He looked at her. “What?”

“I don’t know.” She said suddenly. She did know; she was just thinking about the last dream she had and she suddenly swallowed hard as she walked away. “I’m going to check on Celestia.” She trotted quickly from the room.

Discord rubbed his muzzle. “What else can go wrong?”

A guard walked into the throne room and was about to say something when he saw the glaring look on Discord’s face. “This better be good news.” He growled.

The guard took his helmet off. “It’s me.” Zero answered. “I just wanted to tell you that Lilly needed to talk to you about the baby shower for Fluttershy.”

He smiled. “Yes, thank you Zero.” He went over to his son in law. “Did I ever tell you that you’re my second favorite son in law?”

“Um, no but you only have two son in laws.” Zero muttered.

“Right.” Discord said. “Flight is my first favorite. Come on, we’ll go and see what Lilly needs. Just let me put this here for a moment.” Discord picked up a box off the floor and placed it on a table. “She’ll be back for this.”

“Who’ll be back for that? What’s in the box?” Zero asked.

“Don’t worry about it Zero, my boy. Let’s go.” He led his son in law out the throne room and down the hall.

“Yay! You made it!” Pinkie Pie yelled as she saw her daughter’s friends walk into the store. Crispin stepped back when Pinkie plowed into Apple Bloom. “Sprinkle Icing had been working at this party all morning. With a little help from me.”

Sprinkle Icing was decorating a cake as she looked at her mother and saw Crispin standing to the side. Her eyes widened as a smile spread on her face. She loved seeing Crispin; he always made her happy. “Mom… We have to get this ready before Dox and Silver come.” She waved to Crispin.

“Okay! Apple Bloom can you help me in the kitchen? I’m working on apple turnovers and you’re the best advisor on them.” Pinkie giggled as she pulled Apple Bloom into the kitchen.

“Crispin! Come here, I need you to see this.” Sprinkle Icing grinned as she put another rose on the cake she was decorating. Crispin walked over and looked at the cake. “What do you think?” she asked.

Crispin looked at it and looked at Sprinkle. “It’s beautiful.” He whispered.

She smiled with his answer. “Great! Thank you. I worked hard on it.” She looked up at him and saw he was staring at her. “Oh, do I have something on my muzzle?” She looked at her muzzle cross-eyed.

“Yep.” Crispin said and kissed her muzzle quickly and turned his face away as he felt his ears burning.

Sprinkle Icing blinked in surprise. “Crispin?”

He looked at her. “Hmm?”

She had a blush running over her cheeks. “You kissed me.” She whispered as she looked at him.

He nodded. “Yep. I’d do it again if ya want me to.”

Sprinkle was about to reply when the bell on the door rang. LillyRose and Zero walked in. “Lilly!” Sprinkle waved to her friend and Crispin blushed as Sprinkle turned her attention away from him.

“Sprinkle! Crispin! I’m so glad to see you two!” Lilly said as she went to them.

Sprinkle looked at Lilly. “Oh my goodness! You’re preggers!” She hugged Lilly and looked at Zero. “You’re the one…” She hugged him and Zero looked at her in shock and uncertainty.

Lilly smiled. “Yeah Zero is one of Dad’s guards. He’s also my husband. Zero this is my good friend Sprinkle Icing and that big shy unicorn there is Crispin Apple.”

Zero suddenly bowed to Sprinkle Icing and Crispin. “It’s a pleasure to meet friends of my lovely wife.”

“Oh, he’s so adorable.” Sprinkle Icing squealed.

Crispin just stood there sizing Zero up. Zero went over to Lilly and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

“Lilly when are you due?” Sprinkle asked.

“Well…” Lilly trotted over to her friend and they started to talk about foals and girl things. Zero went to a table and started to look at all the items upon it. Cakes, candies, treats and several snacks.

Crispin walked up to Zero. “How were ya able to do it?”

Zero looked at Crispin. “Excuse me?”

“Lilly can be very moody and she was notorious for being unable to keep a boyfriend past one date, how were ya able to accomplish what others couldn’t?” It was the most Crispin had said in a long time.

“Apparently those others didn’t know that Lilly is as beautiful inside as she is outside. She’s more than beautiful; she’s my love eternal. I know that doesn’t really answer your question but I know how I feel about her.”

Crispin nodded. “So ya ended up dating?”

“Well, um it is a little complicated. I was Lilly’s guard, and I kind of fell for her charms.” He smiled as if remembering. “So tell me about yourself and life in Ponyville.”

Crispin looked at Zero. “Um well, it’s Ponyville and I’m a unicorn, my ma is an earth pony. We live on Sweet Apple Acres.”

“Oh? I’m an earth pony.” Zero stated.

Crispin leaned over and looked at Zero’s wings. “Uh huh… ya don’t look like no earth pony.”

Zero blinked and suddenly flapped his wings. “Oh these, heh… Lilly gave them to me.”

The unicorn’s eyes widened. “She magiced them on ya? Oh! I need to learn that.” Crispin looked over at Lilly and saw her gesturing to Sprinkle about her pregnancy as she rubbed her swollen belly. He noticed that Sprinkle suddenly looked over at him and he blushed as he looked away.

“Crispin?” Zero asked.

He looked at Zero. “Yeah?”

“If you like Sprinkle so much you really should tell her.”

“Is it that obvious?” he asked. “Some pony I just met can see it. I’m afraid she’d reject me.”

Zero looked over at his wife and Sprinkle. “She definitely won’t reject you. That mare wants you.” Zero smirked. “Believe me. I’ve seen that look before.”

Crispin blinked. “Yer not the first pony to say that. Paradox said I should tell her too.”

“So what’re you waiting for?” Zero replied.

“I’m not good with my words.”

“My brother in law and I don’t always get along, but he’s right. So what’re you waiting for?” Zero replied. “Go up and tell her.”

Sprinkle came prancing over to them. “You two are being quiet. Lilly and I think that maybe you two are up to no good being quiet and whispering.”

Zero was surprised by the insinuation of being up to no good. “I’m a loyal guard, I am usually not up to no good.”

“Unless you are with me in bed.” Lilly said.

He blinked at Lilly as his ears turned red. “What? Lilly! Stop talking like that.” He put his head down as he felt his blush running over his face.

Crispin didn’t really say anything as he just stared at Sprinkle Icing. Zero suddenly nudged him in the side and Crispin stumbled forward. He stumbled up against Sprinkle muzzle to muzzle.

“Whoa Crispin are you ok?” Sprinkle Icing asked as she looked at him eye to eye.

Lilly saw how close Crispin and Sprinkle was. She looked at Zero who was smirking. “Oh.” She whispered as she went to Zero.

Crispin gulped as he stared at Sprinkle. “Sorry Sprinkle… I didn’t mean to bump into you.” He then moved back slightly, but before he could move too far away Sprinkle smiled and moved her muzzle up and kissed him. His ears perked up as his eyes widened in surprise he was about to step back when Sprinkle put her hooves around his neck as she kissed him deeper.

“What did I tell you?” Zero muttered as he and Lilly moved away to let Sprinkle and Crispin kiss.

Pinkie Pie and Apple Bloom walked out of the kitchen chatting when Pinkie noticed her daughter kissing Crispin. Her eyes widened and she squeaked when Apple Bloom placed her hoof over Pinkie’s mouth. “Don’t spoil the moment Pinkie.” She said.

Lilly sat at the table and looked at the vial of water that her father given her; he had filled it up and slipped it to her before her and Zero left. She remembered what he whispered her. “Ask Zero if he wants to before you give it to him. It is not called The Spring of Eternity for nothing.”

Zero walked into the room and saw her looking at the vial. “Lilly? Where did you get that?”

She looked up at him and she put her hoof on it. “Oh, Dad gave it to me.”lillyroll“Why did your Dad give you it? Is that the Spring of Eternity water?” He went over and sat across from her.

Lilly looked up at him her cheeks were burning. “Yeah, Dad wanted me to ask you if you wanted to.”

Zero looked at the water and back at her. “Wanted to what?”

“Dad gave Mom the water without her permission and he sometimes regrets doing it but also doesn’t because he saved Mom and it healed her of a problem she had for many years.” She looked at the blue water and pushed it slightly with her hoof.

“So you are asking me for my permission to use it?” Zero asked.

“Yes.” She swallowed. “Do you truly want to be with me… for an eternity?” She looked at him. “If you do not; you don’t have to drink it at all. I’ll understand. Paradox and I… We are Discord’s children; we will live for a long time maybe longer barring no accidents. We were given the spring water when we were babies, I was very ill as a filly… I just wanted to tell you what you have to put up with if you do drink that water…”

Zero grabbed the vial, opened it quickly and drank it down. He shook his head and licked his lips. “There is your answer Lilly.”

Lilly smiled at him as she got up from the chair and walked over to him. “I love you Zero.”

“Lilly, I love you… I’d spend a thousand eternities with you no matter what, you are stuck with me.” He got up and kissed her.

They stood outside of the fountain still in their shrunken state. Twilight wiggled out of Discord’s grip quickly and she frowned at him. “Don’t touch me.” She muttered as she flapped her wings slightly, her cheeks were flush.

Discord shrugged. “Okay. Prin… cess.” He looked at her and shook his head then snapped his fingers and he became normal sized. Twilight used her magic and she grew. All of them grew; Lilly and Zero were the last to change size.

Twilight trotted to the fountain and looked at it. “There’s still no water.”

“Geez Aunt Twilight. Give it time.” Paradox snorted.

There was a strange bubbling noise coming from the fountain and a rather small trickling of water started drop from the mouth of the fountain.

“Hey there we go.” Zero stated as he looked at the water. “It’s crystal blue in color.”

“Excellent. That is the way it’s supposed to look.” Discord stated and looked at Lilly. “You never cease to amaze me.”

“Should have brought her along to begin with.” Twilight stated as she glanced at Lilly while Discord examined the water.

“I really didn’t want to go.” Lilly said as she yawned.

Discord nodded at his daughter. “Maybe you and Zero should head back home.” He put his paw on her head as he leaned down and whispered something in her ear. She blinked at him and nodded.

“Yeah. Good night every pony.” She spread her wings and Zero did the same as they both flew off.

“So now what?” Paradox asked as he looked at the water.

Discord grinned as he went to the fountain and started to drink the water. When he was done he smacked his lips. “Yep that is refreshing. Makes me feel about a hundred years younger.”

Twilight rolled her eyes. “Move please. I’m going to fill these things.” She had a couple containers and started to fill them with the water.

Paradox was starting to yawn as he looked at Silver; she was watching Twilight as she leaned against him. “Do you remember anything about sleep walking?” he asked.

“I don’t sleep walk, I used to when I was a filly, mom says she had to lock my room afraid I’d walk off the cloud.” She giggled. “Why do you ask?”

“Oh um, no reason.” Paradox muttered then hugged her. “I think we should have dinner with Rainbow Dash soon.”

“Why do you want to have dinner with mom?” Silver asked.

Paradox shrugged. “I have to ask her something.”

“Okay, I have what we needed.” Twilight announced. “Can we go?”

“Not quite.” Discord stated as he filled a couple vials himself. “Now we can.” He started to chuckle. “By the way, you won’t remember where this is.”

Twilight looked defiantly at him. “Yes I will.”

“Believe me you won’t.” He started laughing as he held up his claw and snapped his fingers.

All four of them appeared in Canterlot in the throne room. Discord casually strode over to the throne and sat down. Twilight let out a sigh. “Thanks. Now perhaps we can get this place back in order.”

“Good luck with that water. I’ll hold down the fort while you ‘heal’ Celestia.” He lounged on the throne.

Paradox and Silver watched as Twilight left and Paradox went over to his father. “Dad, what will happen if the water works?”

“We move back to Ponyville of course.” He replied.

“You’d give this up?” He asked.

“Of course Dox. I promised your mother I would.”lounge

65.

Lilly was completely baffled. There was a white rose growing in the middle of the barrier. Paradox saw it and pointed it out to her and she tried to approach it but the ringing in her ears got so strong she was on the verge of passing out when Paradox and Zero pulled her back. “That is the key to breaking the spell.” She said.white-roses-

“How do we get to it?” Zero asked. “If you get even close to it, you almost fall under the enchantment.”

Lilly sat down. “There has to be a way, maybe if I teleport next to it?”

Paradox was rubbing his chin. “And if you pass out just as you teleport next to it? What will we do?”

Lilly shook her head. “I…” She began but then stopped talking when she saw movement over where Discord, Silver and Twilight was. Silver had stood up and she was walking slowly over towards the rose.

Paradox glanced at what Lilly was looking at and he stared. “Silver…?”

Lilly put her hoof on Paradox. “She’s not awake. She’s sleep walking, but why is she… walking to the rose? Maybe we can… get her to bring it to us.”

“How can we do that?” Zero asked.

“Paradox has to ask her to bring it to him.” Lilly smiled at her brother. “Go ahead Dox, get her attention and ask her to bring the rose to us.”

Paradox looked at Silver as she walked in her sleep. “Silver, can you bring me the white rose? I want to see it.”

Silver had her eyes half closed as she looked towards him. “Paradox… You are here? Were you going to ask me something?” She said softly.

Paradox looked confused. “Ask you something?”

Lilly nodded and pointed urgently to the rose.

“Yes, can you bring me the rose?” He asked.

“That wasn’t the question.” Silver said softly as she looked over at the white rose. “I’ll bring you that, but you need to ask me that question you have wanted to ask me.”

Lilly looked at Paradox and she saw him physically shaking. “S… sure… bring me… the R-r-r… rose and I… I will ask t… the question.” He stuttered.

Zero looked at Paradox. “When did you start stuttering?”

Lilly blinked at how uncomfortable her brother got. “Dox, you only stutter when you get too nervous, and you never get nervous.”

“I… I’m n… not… stu… stuttering.” He stammered as he looked back at Silver as she grabbed the rose delicately in her mouth. She started to walk towards them slowly.

Silver stopped right in front of Paradox and she dropped the rose and Lilly grabbed it quickly in her mouth before it fell on the ground. Silver looked up at Paradox. “Ask me your question.”

“S… Silver…” Paradox stuttered as he bit his lower lip. “I…I can’t ask you this question wh… while … you’re a… asleep.”

“Paradox, please ask me.” Silver looked at him her silver magenta eyes shined. “Think of it as practice when you ask me while I am awake.”

Paradox swallowed hard as he suddenly kneeled in front of her and grabbed her hoof. “Silver, will you… M… Marry me?” He asked her.

Silver Dash slowly nodded as she blinked her eyes. “I will.”

Lilly blinked in surprise as she almost dropped the rose. “Is that why you were stuttering?”

Paradox nodded as he pet Silver’s hoof as Silver suddenly lay back down and fell back asleep. “Yeah, the… ques… question makes me… stutter. I haven’t asked Rainbow Dash if I could marry her daughter.” He looked worriedly at Silver as she slept again.

“That is rough.” Zero said. “I guess I am happy Lilly and I eloped.”

Lilly blinked then looked at the rose. “This isn’t anything but a regular rose.”

“It is a regular rose! It’s also my home!” A white wisp flew by and landed on Lilly’s muzzle.

Lilly looked at the wisp with her eyes crossed. “What? Are you responsible for them being under enchantment?”

“Who? The tall one, the repressed one and the one in love?” The wisp asked.

“Yes.” Lilly nodded and the wisp made a small squeak as it held onto her.

“Yeah, I don’t like things bothering the pretty water wall. I worked many years to make it look pretty like this.”

“Can you break the spell they are under?” Lilly asked. “If you do I will take them away from here to not bother you again.”

“But, I like talking to them. They amuse me… except the tall one… he doesn’t amuse me… he’s too intelligent.” The wisp seemed to sound annoyed.

“Well, also I wouldn’t mind if you let some of that water through? That water wall will still look nice with a small waterfall in the middle. That is a trend now; they call it a water feature.”

The wisp made a slight “Oooh” Sound and flew from Lilly’s muzzle and over to the bodies of Discord, Silver and Twilight. It alighted on each of their muzzles and it flew up to the wall. Lilly lost sight of it.

“It’s about time.” Discord slowly sat up. “I thought I was going to die from boredom.”

Twilight blinked while she sat up, she rubbed her temple. “Oh, my head.” She looked around spotted Discord next to her; she got up quickly as she blushed looking away from him.

Silver looked up and saw Paradox looking down at her. “Doxy? What happened?”

Paradox knelt down next to her and pulled her into his lap. “Nothing to be worried about.” He grinned as he kissed her gently on the lips.

Discord stood up and stretched. “So I guess we knock down this barrier?”

Lilly shook her head. “No Dad… I made a deal with the creator of the barrier.”

Twilight looked at Lilly in shock. “We need the water? What sort of deal did you make?”

Lilly looked at the wall for a few moments. “I am sure that the deal I made will help us at least a little bit, I suggest we don’t wait around for too long.” She saw one of the leaks that was trickling down the wall was starting to grow larger letting more water spill forth.

Discord noticed the water too. “Yep, we might need to make a hasty retreat, maybe a teleportation spell?”

He grabbed Twilight before she could protest and snapped his fingers.

Lilly hugged Zero to her and clicked her tongue. Paradox teleported too holding Silver close to him.

Paradox paced back and forth as Zero sat staring at Discord, Silver and Twilight. They were just within reach but not. They both felt helpless by the fact they couldn’t do anything.

“Dox if you had studied enchantments you wouldn’t need my help.” Lilly said as she walked around the corner.

“Lilly.” Zero sighed as he went over to nuzzle her.

“What kind of enchantment is it?” Paradox asked as he indicated the barrier and the unconscious bodies of Discord, Silver and Twilight.

Lilly assessed the situation then stepped closer to the barrier. She felt the ringing in her ears and stepped away quickly. “Whoa, that is powerful.” she shook her head and moved further away.

“What kind of enchantment is it?” Paradox asked again.

“It’s a sleep enchantment, but it’s something else.” She started to look around the room. “We have to find something in this room that doesn’t seem to belong, just do not go near the barrier.” She instructed them.

Zero and Paradox started to search the room visually while Lilly trotted to the far end and looked at the barrier. The crystal was extremely fragile and she was looking at the leaking holes along it.

“Hey, I think I see something.” Paradox yelled.

Lilly trotted through the broken diamond wall, she didn’t see how the wall had been shattered but she walked faster and then slipped on the slope as she spread her wings and flew down. She was amazed how beautiful the caves were as she looked around. She folded her wings when she hit solid ground. Her hooves made a strange echo in the cave as she walked.lillytorescueTurning to look at the stalactites she suddenly saw a cricket looming above her. Its long antenna was moving over her slightly and it moved toward her. She saw its jaws and mandible working in tandem as it drooled. She physically shivered in disgust and fear. She started to move slowly away from it and it moved with her.

She thought about the magic she had and smirked as she clicked her tongue and used her magic to shrink the cricket down. It stopped advancing on her as it realized it was too small. It then hopped away into a crack. Lilly let out a deep sigh as she continued on her way.

Lilly blinked at the rock that appeared right next to her it was small and didn’t look significant at all. She looked at it and squinted at the unremarkable stone. Then she grinned as she made it bigger. There was something written on it. “Twi, Dad and Silver are under enchantment we don’t know what to do.”lillygoingtoLilly let out a sigh as she went to the door of her Dad’s castle went out to the fountain. She rubbed her pregnant belly as she clicked her tongue and shrunk down and went in search for them.

Story: Paradox’s Despair – Chapter 53

53.

Lilly was starting to get worried, hungry and cold. She stood up and stretched as she looked around the seemingly abandoned ruins. Her stomach growled as she opened her bag and started to eat an apple. She walked over to one vine covered wall and placed her hoof on it. A door suddenly appeared. “What?” She tried the handle but it didn’t budge. “I wonder where it goes.” She moved her hoof and it suddenly opened. Lilly walked into the room and the door shut behind her the hearth came to life as a fire started to burn; a table appeared with food on it. She blinked in surprise then smiled. “Thanks Dad.”

Discord’s ears perked up. “Some pony is in my castle.”

Twilight looked at him. “How in Equestria do you know that?”

He shrugged. “Oh. Well. I was worried for nothing, it’s just Lilly. I hope she finds it accommodating.” He then grinned at Twilight. “My castle and I, we are best buds. We tell each other everything.”

“I don’t think I’ll ever understand you.” Twilight muttered.

“It’s not in my nature to be understood.” Discord replied. Twilight glanced at him, but he wasn’t looking at her as he seemed more interested in another stalactite that was dripping red water.

Silver walked over to Twilight and whispered. “You know, I am beginning to think that you do like him.”

Twilight scoffed. “Oh… please. He’s just an annoyance. I want this over with so we can help Princess Celestia and get her back on the throne and get Equestria away from his grasp.”

“He’s not that bad of a ruler.” Silver muttered. “So what we get unusual rain and we have odd crops, it’s just part of chaos isn’t it? You cannot go through life without a little bit of disarray. Nothing is perfect.”

Twilight thought about it for a moment. “Hmph. You don’t understand; he’s pretty much the epitome of Chaos.”

Silver smirked. “Be glad he is on our side then. As I said, he isn’t that bad of a ruler.”

Twilight just shook her head and didn’t continue to talk about it as she watched Silver walk over to Discord.

“Um…” Silver said to Discord.

Discord’s looked down at Silver. “Yes?”

“When we find out the source of the water… What will we do with it?” Silver asked.

He smiled. “Well, I am hoping to get enough water to…” He paused as if he just didn’t want to tell Silver what he really wanted to do with the water. “I’m sorry; I just cannot tell you my intentions. Now, Twilight is intending to save her mentor Celestia, and I am not so sure even the Spring of Eternity will help her.” He looked sad then he smiled. “Hopefully, when we find the source we’ll be able to fix the problem.”

Silver watched him as he made a vial of water disappear as he strolled casually down the cave. She walked beside him as Twilight walked a couple paces behind taking a book from her side pack and was paging through it.

“So…” Discord said breaking the silence. “Silver, indulge me. What makes you interested in Paradox?”

Silver started to blush as she stumbled slightly at his question and she looked at her hooves. “I… I love him.” She felt her cheeks burning and she looked up at Discord. “I always wanted to be with him, we grew up together, but he was always fawning over other fillies so I… resigned myself that he and I were never meant to be… Until … the night he and I met on the training field near the barracks.”

His ears perked up. “Oh? Do tell.”

“Well, I thought he was a unicorn that had fallen down drunk and I offered to help him up and… he turned into Paradox and he told me… That I was beautiful.” She blushed as she flapped her wings. “He then asked me an odd question.”

“What question was that?” He blinked as they turned a corner and he looked up slightly.

“He asked me if he looked like a monster.” Silver said.

He glanced at her. “And your answer?”chatwdis“I… I told him no… and he hugged me and thanked me.”

Discord smiled. “Thank You.”

Silver blinked and looked at Discord. “Why are you thanking me?”

He shrugged as he was staring suddenly at something ahead of them she looked ahead too and stopped in her tracks. Looming ahead of them was a large barricade made of a fine crystal beyond the barrier was the water for the Spring of Eternity. It was backed up but in a few spots the barricade spouted little trickling leaks.

He smirked and made like he was cracking his knuckles as he strode over to it but stopped suddenly and fell over as if he fainted.

Silver gasped and ran forward, but fell too. Twilight frowned not knowing what was going on, carefully she approached the barrier felt her ears start to ring loudly she shook her head and stumbled forward only to fall as well. Knocked unconscious by something.

Paradox and Zero walked around the bend not even twenty minutes later and noticed the large crystal barrier then noticed Discord, Twilight, and Silver on the ground seemingly asleep.

Paradox saw Silver and was going to run to her side when Zero grabbed his tail.

“Wait, that isn’t normal. It’s an enchantment; I don’t think it’s safe to run over to them.” Zero stated. “It’s so strong that it even got Twilight and your father.”

“So, what do you suggest we do?” Paradox asked. “I don’t know anything about enchantments; Lilly is the only one that studied them.”

“Can you send Lilly something that would hint on the fact that we need help?” Zero asked.

“Maybe.” Paradox said.
