Story: Paradox’s Despair – Chapter 99

99.

Twilight paced about a hundred feet away from the gate of Tartarus. She kept glancing at it waiting for Discord to emerge. She turned to pace back and ran into him. “Oof!”

“You didn’t have to wait.” He smiled at her, glanced around, picked her up and hugged her. “You’re a good friend. Thank you.”

When he placed her back on the ground she wobbled slightly, fluffed out her wings. “You’re welcome. So what happened? Why are you able to get into Tartarus so easily? Who was talking to you? Did you get whoever to release Celestia? I need to know. Details!”

He sighed. “Twilight you should just ask one question at a time.”

She bit her lower lip and trotted in place. “What happened?”

“I don’t know.” He muttered. “I think there is something else at work here. My children need sleep, we need sleep.” He grinned suddenly at the thought of sleep. “Twilight, did the chaotic buffer work?”

Twilight looked up at him confused. “What is a chaotic buffer?”

He started walking and she walked with him. “It was the box, did it work?”

She blinked. “Luna had brought it to the room when I was asleep. I didn’t dream about you. What is a chaotic buffer?”

He nodded. “Yes. I don’t give that box to just any pony. You wanted me out of your head that was the only solution. Do you feel differently about me now?”

“I don’t think I need to um…” She blushed and looked the other direction.

“Hah. That’s hilarious. You’re thinking about me again.”

“That isn’t fair Discord. How can I not think about you when you’re right in front of me?”

He shook his head. “Sorry Twilight, I guess you aren’t being completely honest with me… Let’s get back to Canterlot. I guess we’ll have to talk more about this later.”
