The train stopped in Ponyville. Paradox stepped out and he put his paw out for Silver. She put her hoof in his paw and he assisted her out of the train.

“Da! Ma!” The twins said in unison as they both flew into their parent’s arms.

“Oh! You two are flying now!” Silver said as she hugged Solana.

“My little girls are getting so big.” Paradox said as he nuzzled Selene.welcomeshome

Rainbow Dash flew over to them. “Did you two have a good vacation?” She then tilted her head. “Paradox? Your wing is broken?” She had noticed the bandages around his wing.

He smirked. “Yeah, well that is a long story. I’ll tell you later.”

“Did you teach the twins how to fly?” Silver asked.

Rainbow Dash started to laugh. “Oh no… I walked into their room and they were sitting up on the highest point in the room. I actually thought you had taught them to fly before you two left, to surprise me.”

Paradox laughed. “No… Opportunity lost.” He looked at Selene as she hugged him. “You and Solana teach yourselves to fly?”

Selene looked at her sister then looked back at him. “Yes.”

“No.” Solana said. “Granspa Dissy taught us.”

Silver gulped and looked at Paradox. He slowly closed his eyes and then let out a breath he was holding in. “I am guessing you didn’t know about this?” He asked Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow shook her head. “I didn’t know. Sorry Paradox. I wouldn’t have allowed it unless you said it was okay.”

“It’s ok Mom.” Silver stated as she smiled. She took Selene from Paradox and held both twins.

“Yeah, it’s not your fault.” He stated as he tried to control the anger that was welling up inside of him. He sighed and looked at the twins. “I am so proud of you two. You fly really good too!”

The twins both smiled suddenly. “Thank you!” They both said and both flew at Paradox, tackle hugging him.

Paradox fell backwards with both girls in his arms. “Oh no! Attack of the cute girls!” They both hugged him as he flinched slightly from landing on his injured wing. “I love my girls…” He said softly. “Thanks for watching them Rainbow.”

“Hey it was my pleasure… They are my granddaughters… I got to spoil them.” She smiled.

The playground was fairly crowded and Zero was sitting on the bench watching as his daughter Rune Eclipse played in a sandbox. He watched as she blinked her golden eyes at another filly walking by her; she didn’t smile or make a sound she just watched the filly walk by. Zero suddenly blinked when he saw Paradox step up beside him. “Hello Dox. What brings you here? Don’t you have acting to do?”

Paradox walked over and sat next to his brother in law. “What is new Zero?”

Zero looked down at the ground after glancing at his daughter to be sure she was safe. “Nothing is new, except that Discord has started to teach Rune magic.”sadzero

“What?” Paradox gasped. “Why are you letting him do that?”

Zero shook his head as he shrugged. “I cannot teach her magic. Lilly isn’t here to… teach her either.” He swallowed. “I must have… made her leave… I did something wrong. I ran her away.” He suddenly looked up at his brother-in-law. “You know where she is! I think you should tell me. I need her back Dox.”

Paradox stood up. “I don’t… Zero, I don’t know where Lilly is, I think dad knows but he won’t talk to me. Every time I even try to ask about her… I feel so angry at him.” He looked over at the sand box and saw Rune pick up a bucket of sand and pour it in a small tin plate. The plate tin started to glow red as it hovered and poured back into the bucket. She suddenly looked over at them, she smiled and stood up quickly as she suddenly beat her wings and flew over to them.

“Uncle Doxy!” Rune squealed as she flew over and landed clumsily in her uncle’s arms. “Doxy. Dox! Doxy!”

“Rune.” Paradox said as he hugged his niece. “You’re flying better.”littlerune

“Tank you. Da helps me. Grandspa is teaching me magics! He’s teachin’ Snafie too.” She talked quickly as her little wings flapped. “Will you teach me how to paints one day?”

“I will, after I teach Solana and Selene. You’ve gotten big, reminds me of your mom a lot. Beautiful, smart, that thick black and dark blue mane.” He pet down her mane softly and then put her down on the bench next to Zero. He got on his knees and looked at Zero and Rune. “I’ll do what I can to find out what happened to Lilly.”

Rune tilted her head slightly. “I will find out Uncle Doxy. Da and I miss mama. She was beautiful and had stars in her mane.”

Zero looked at Rune. “Rune Bug? You remember her?”

“Yes Da. Mama is beautiful. At night… Princess Luna tells me about her as I sleep.” Rune leaned against Zero. “She says I have ta remembers my Mama, because I can bring her backs one day… maybe.”

Paradox pet her mane. “It’s good to dream little one. Thanks for being on my side.”

“I love you Uncle Doxy.” Rune beamed as she flapped her wings again. “When can I play with Selene and Solana? I think we’d have fun playing. I wanna show them how I make stars shine in the sand.”

“You make stars shine in sand?” Paradox asked.

She nodded. “Yes, watch.” She frowned as the slightly crooked horn on her forehead started to glow red. The bucket of sand floated from the sand box and floated over to them, Rune put her hooves up and held the bucket and looked in it. “See.” Her horn glowed again and the sand turned black and little lights started to emerge from the sand. Both Paradox and Zero gasped at the sight. The lights twinkled and shone briefly then faded as quickly as they appeared. Rune suddenly yawned. “Sorry… that make me sleepy.” She wrinkled her nose and yawned again. “Da… I need to go home.”

Zero nodded as he picked her up and started to flap his wings. “Ok Rune, you need your nap.” He looked at Paradox. “Take care Dox, if I learn anything new… I’ll let you know. Rune likes to make up stories about Lilly, sometimes I wish they were true stories.”

Paradox stood up. “I wouldn’t make light of her dreams Zero… You know as well as I do that dreams can change instantly.” He looked at Rune. “Take care Rune. I love you always.”

“I love you Uncle Doxy and Auntie Silvie too.” Rune said as she yawned and nuzzled against Zero’s chest.

“Uh oh Doxy yes…” Silver moaned out as she shuddered.

“Silver… gods.” He replied softly as he gripped her shoulders. “Let me…” He let out a harsh grunt. “Uh… gods yes!”

She panted as she let out another moan. “Doxy. Please.”

He nodded as he let the strap go and quickly buckled it. “There we go. Your ceremonial armor is now on you tight.”

She smiled at him. “Thank you my love. I appreciate it a lot.” She stretched in the armor and wiggled her hips a bit. “When did I get so out of shape?”

He chuckled. “When you had twins.”

“Oh.” She replied. “Mom wasn’t kidding then.”

“Maybe you should fly forty laps.” He grinned.

“You’re still going on about that? I wasn’t showing favorites…”

“You know how much I hate flying.” He spread out his wings. “These beauties are for decoration only.”

She shook her head. “They are gorgeous and functional you should use them more for flight. You could out fly mother if you flew daily.”

He shook his head. “No way am I going to challenge your mom to anything flying related.”

Silver suddenly blushed and closed her mouth tightly. She looked around and acted like she was trying to find parts to her ceremonial armor.guiltysilvercolor

Paradox noticed how she got quiet. “Silver? What did you do?”

“Don’t get mad.” She whispered.

“You know I don’t lose my temper often. What did you do?” He asked warily.

“I signed you up to race next week against mom and a couple of Equestria’s best fliers…” Silver blushed as she shuffled her hooves.

He stared at her. “What? Why?”

She didn’t look at him as she shuffled her hooves more. “Mom was bragging again and I um… kind of said you’d win in a race against her.”

Paradox blinked at his wife. “Silver…”

She looked up at him. “I love you…” she grinned sheepishly.

“Sometimes I have to wonder.” He whispered as he sat down. “How am I going to get out of this race?”

“You won’t race?” She asked.

“I’m not in shape for a race Silver. I haven’t trained.”

She blinked. “A few weeks ago you did forty laps in no time at all. You didn’t even get winded.”

“I know. This is different. I have to race against Rainbow Dash.” He muttered as he put his head in his paws. “My mother-in-law. One of the fastest fliers in Equestria. Competition is everything to your mom.”

“Yes Doxy, but she has a very good sense of loyalty too.” Silver stated. “I know that you two would have a wonderful time racing.”

He looked up at her. “I guess I’ll have to start training, but you’ll owe me…”

She looked at him innocently. “Oh?”

He nodded. “Big time.”

The next day.

“Get it together. Stop flying right when I said to fly left.” Silver growled.

The recruits saluted her as she landed in frustration. “Yes ma’am.”

She looked at them then her ears perked up at seeing Celestia walking with a young Pegasus recruit. She looked at her recruits. “Fly laps, twenty times.” They jumped up and started to fly laps as Celestia approached Silver with the Pegasus. He had jet black mane and a gray coat. His eyes were a deep shade of blue. Silver’s recruits watched her talk to Celestia as they did laps. All three wondering who the new recruit was.

“Princess Celestia, thank you.” Silver smiled.

“Anything to help you.” Celestia winked as she turned. “I expect these guards to be in tip top shape next week.” She said as the recruits doing laps landed and approached.

“Yes Princess.” Silver saluted and then bowed. When Celestia was gone she looked at her recruits and the new recruit and frowned. “Alright. Celestia had given me the task of getting you four into shape. She wants you to start guard duty next week for the Grand Galloping Gala.”

“Next week?” asked the clumsy recruit. He had a dark green mane.

She looked at him. “Yes Emerald. Next week.” She sighed as she looked at them all. “Oh, and this is the newest recruit, Fallacy.”

The new recruit didn’t say anything and just looked straight ahead. The other three looked at him curiosity burning them.fallacy

“I’ll give you four a break, and I’ll be back. Get acquainted for a moment.” She flew off.

The new recruit saluted. “Yes ma’am.” The other three saluted too, a bit flustered.

All three looked at the newest recruit. He had relaxed and looked at them. “Um, hi.” Emerald greeted him first.

Fallacy looked at him. “Greetings. What are your names?”

“I’m Emerald.” Emerald replied.

The one with a white and red mane grinned. “I’m Grey Shark.” Fallacy gave him a curious glance.

The third one stepped up, he had a yellow mane. “My name is Drop Zone.”

“Nice to meet you.” Fallacy nodded. He then flapped his wings. “So how is this trainer? Is she any good?”

“Lieutenant Silver Dash is really a hard worker. But she gets frustrated easily when we make a mistake.” Emerald replied.

“She’s freaking hot. I love looking at her flanks; bet she’s awesome in the sack.” Grey Shark replied.

“Grey, don’t say that out loud.” Emerald growled. “I hear her husband is some magical genius. Also one of those jealous sorts.”

“He’s also an actor.” Drop Zone added.

“Do you even know much about the lieutenant besides the way she looks or who her husband might be?” Fallacy asked.

The three looked at him and shook their heads.

“Shouldn’t we be figuring out how we can become the best guards we can?” He continued.

“Yeah. I guess so.” Emerald replied.

Grey Shark looked at Fallacy. “What does it matter?

Fallacy stared at Grey Shark for a moment his expression didn’t change. “Have it your way. Just don’t have your downfall bring me down with you.”

“You have a problem with me?” Grey Shark asked.

“I have no problems with you. In a battle of wits I have the better ammunition.” Fallacy stated. “Here comes the Lieutenant.” He stood up straight and saluted.

Silver landed in front of them. “Sorry, I had to talk to Princess Luna.” She looked at them. “I hope you’ve gotten acquainted, now I want you all to fly another twenty laps. Including you Fallacy, you should fly forty laps. To make up for the twenty laps that the other recruits had to fly before you got here.”

Fallacy looked at her and narrowed his eyes. “Yes Lieutenant Silver Dash.” He stretched out his wings and took flight. The other three joined him as they started to fly along with him.

Emerald closer to Fallacy. “She doesn’t seem to like you.”

Fallacy looked at him. “This isn’t a popularity contest.” He flapped his wings and started to fly faster than all of them. Grey Shark started to fly fast to catch up, but Fallacy effortlessly pumped his wings and went faster. Silver watched them fly and she smiled as Fallacy bypassed her recruits. He was the first to land having done forty laps faster than their twenty. He wasn’t even out of breath as he stood and waited for the others to land.

“I think you cheat.” Grey Shark panted as he approached Fallacy.

“I am just far more superior then you.” Fallacy said as he looked straight ahead.

Grey Shark frowned as he was about to yell at Fallacy but he was interrupted by Silver approaching. “Very nice. I am impressed Fallacy.”

“Thank you Ma’am.” Fallacy said.

The other two recruits landed panting as they stood next to Fallacy and Grey. “Sorry Ma’am. We’re trying to improve.” Drop Zone muttered.

Silver looked at Drop Zone. “I can see that.” She smiled at all of them. “I guess we’ll call it a night. I am hoping tomorrow we can really train to be attentive through a party atmosphere like at the Grand Galloping Gala. So please be prepared to work with focusing on the task that is set before you.”

“Lieutenant?” Grey Shark saluted.

“Yes?” She asked the recruit.

“I think that Fallacy has cheated in his laps.”

Silver looked at him and shook her head. “What makes you say that?”

“No pony can fly faster than I.” Grey Shark frowned as he looked at Fallacy

“Oh?” Silver started to chuckle. “You obviously don’t know my mother then.”

Fallacy saluted. “If I may Ma’am; your mother is Rainbow Dash, the only pony that can do the Sonic Rainboom.”

The recruits looked at Silver in shock and then looked at Fallacy. “Correct Fallacy.” Silver smiled. “If I wasn’t married I’d give you a hug.”

Fallacy didn’t reply to that he just smiled lightly.

Drop Zone slowly walked forward. “Ma’am?” He saluted.

“Yes Drop?” She asked him.

“I am curious, why are we going to guard at the Gala? I don’t think we’ll be ready, well not all of us.”

“Who do you think, out of all of you, is ready to guard at the Gala?” Silver asked.

“Fallacy is.” Emerald said quietly.

“Sorry, I cannot guard at the Gala. I will be busy that night.” Fallacy stated.

“Wait.” Grey Shark growled as he stepped forward. “You’re training with us! You need to guard with us.” He looked sternly at Fallacy. “What is so important that you cannot guard at the Gala?”

Fallacy suddenly grinned as he walked forward. Emerald’s eyes widened when he noticed that the new recruit’s teeth were sharp and dagger-like. “Uh…” Emerald stepped back.

Grey didn’t notice the teeth as Fallacy walked up to him. He frowned at Fallacy and poked him in the chest. “Come on perfection of a guard! Tell me what you will do the night of the Gala? You cheat at laps what other things do you cheat at?”

Fallacy chuckled softly. “I didn’t cheat at laps because I had a lot of practice at flying from one of the best teachers in Equestria.” He slowly started to stand up on his hind legs. “The next thing, I am attending the Gala with my wife so I cannot “guard” the Gala.” His front hooves started to change into paws slowly. “Oh, and if I catch you looking at my wife’s flanks again… I will tear your wings off.” Fallacy’s whole visage changed and Paradox was staring at Grey Shark with a menacing grin on his face.

Grey Shark gulped and stepped back slowly from Paradox. “I um… I.”

“You were looking at my flanks?” Silver asked incredulously.

Grey Shark looked over at Lieutenant Silver Dash. “Ma’am, I uh…”

She shook her head. “I’m sorry Grey, I cannot teach you if you are going to stare at my flanks.”

“I am sorry Ma’am. No disrespect but… your flanks, they are…” He slowly closed his mouth before he got into more trouble.

Paradox started to chuckle. “Silver my dearest…”

Silver looked up at him. “Yes Doxy?”

“At least he can admire the finer things.” He answered her. “I say give him another chance, but…” He suddenly looked at all three of the recruits. “Be warned, if I hear my lovely Silver complain about you not paying her attention again. I’ll come by and start plucking your feathers out.”

All three of them shook their heads. “We’ll pay attention.” Emerald said.

“I’ll give Grey another chance Doxy.” Silver said as she walked over to him.

He smiled at her as he looked in her eyes. “Good.”

They suddenly kissed in front of the recruits.

Silver moved slightly to her side and suddenly gasped as a pain shot through her. “What?”

Paradox was instantly awake and looked over at her. “What is it?”

She shook her head and moved again and the pain radiated around her stomach. “Oh!”

Paradox sat up and looked at his wife in concern. “Silver, tell me.”

She put her hoof up as she took in deep breath and then let it out slowly. “Wait a moment.” She took in another breath and then her eyes widened. “Ouch. Oh…” She gasped as she looked at him nervously.

Paradox blinked at his wife. “Is…?”

Silver yelled out in pain as it radiated around her stomach. “Doxy… I… think so.”

He jumped out of bed. “It’s time, I’m gonna be a dad; oh what do I do; what should I do? Silver…?”

She looked at him and slowly rubbed her belly as he looked at her for advice. “Tell the doctor? Take me to the hospital, tell my family and yours.” She smiled then clutched her stomach and let out a pained whimper.

He went over to her and kissed her face. “How do I do all this?”

“Get me to the hospital first.” She gasped out as another wave of pain hit her. “Remember the pain you had when your sister…  um… Lilly went into labor?”

He nodded and swallowed hard. “Don’t remind me. I’m going to get you to the hospital.” He moved to her side and picked her up gently.

“Don’t use magic Doxy. Please.” She said quickly.

“What? How am I to get you to the hospital fast?” He asked with slight panic in his voice.

“You can fly… fly me there.” She said as she put her hoof on his cheek. “Just don’t use magic Doxy.”

He let out a sigh as he nodded. “Ok, I’ll fly you there, although I am a little rusty.” He walked to the door to the balcony off their bedroom and went out. Swallowing hard he spread his wings out, stretching them out fully and flapping them in the early morning.flight2

Silver squeaked and closed her eyes when he jumped up and took flight. This was the first time he ever flew while holding her and she could have sworn that he had never flown the whole time they ever dated; although he had mentioned several times that her mother made him fly laps as punishments for different things when he was younger.

He flew up and held Silver to him gently but firmly. He wanted to be careful as he flew over a part of Everfree Forest and over his parent’s cottage. As he flew over their cottage he looked down to see if either one of them were outside. There wasn’t a sign of either one of them so he pumped his wings and flew towards Ponyville.

Silver carefully opened her eyes and let out the breath she was holding in. She whimpered with the pain but she was also in awe on how well he flew.

He held her protectively as he used heavy strong beats of his wings to move swiftly. They flew through the outskirts of Ponyville and Silver noticed that Paradox was starting to breathe heavily. He flew over Sweet Apple Acres as he scanned the orchard and suddenly noticed trees being shook to loosen apples. He flew for it.

Silver didn’t know what he was doing since he took a slight detour into Sweet Apple Acres. “Doxy? What are you … Doing?” She gasped out as she was hit with another pain.

“Don’t worry…” He panted as he answered her. He suddenly reversed his forward movement to hover in place his wings beating hard and fast as he hovered over the trees being bucked and spotted Big Mac, Crispin Apple and Apple Jack.

Silver now knew what Paradox wanted to do. She saw her father. “Dad!”

Big Mac, AJ and Crispin all looked up. “What the hay is going on?” Apple Jack demanded.

Paradox was panting hard. “I can hardly talk… Tell him Silver.”

Silver nodded and let out a slight cry of pain then composed herself. “I’m in labor and Doxy is taking me to the hospital tell every pony please.” She said.

Big Mac ran forward just as Paradox turned and flew off with Silver. “Sorry…” He shouted back over his shoulder. “I got to get you there before I run out of breath.” He muttered.

Silver nodded. Paradox gave bigger wing beats and flew towards the hospital. When he got to the Ponyville general hospital he landed at the entrance and stood to regain his strength still holding her in his arms. Folding his wings behind him he walked her into the emergency room carrying her still. “My wife is in labor.”

The nurses perked up and they helped Paradox by taking Silver into the back. He went with them his wings were feeling tired as they unfurled and dragged behind him.

Silver was trying not to act nervous as she sat next to her mother at the restaurant. “Doxy should be here soon.”

Rainbow Dash chuckled. “What’s taking him so long?”

Silver shrugged. “I don’t know, let’s snack on these chips.” She started to eat the chips on the table. She nibbled on them since she really didn’t have an appetite. She had morning sickness for a couple of days and she didn’t want to start getting nauseous in front of her mom.

“Alright, but Paradox better get here soon or I’ll be a little grumpy.” Rainbow sighed as she picked up a chip.

Paradox appeared next to the table. “I’ve come with cake.” He placed the box in front of his mother-in-law.

“Are you always late for things?” Rainbow Dash asked him as she opened the box.

“No, I’m sorry.” He replied as her saw her start to open the box.

“I hope you like it.” Silver said as Paradox stood next to her placing his paw on her shoulder.

Rainbow Dash opened the box and looked at the cake then looked up at her daughter and son-in-law. “It’s a beautiful cake.” She saw the pacifiers on it. “Does this mean what I think it means?”

Paradox and Silver both nodded, Silver was blushing a lot as she looked at her mom. “Yes.”

Rainbow started to laugh and suddenly jumped up and flew over to them. “This is totally awesome! I’m gonna be a grandmother! Yes! In your face Apple Jack! I win again.” She hugged both Paradox and Silver. “Do you know what the baby will be?”

Paradox blinked. “What the baby will be?” He looked worried.

“She means a boy or girl Doxy.” Silver said to him. “No, we don’t know yet.”

Rainbow Dash was crying suddenly. “My baby is going to have a baby!” Silver started to hug her mom and pat her on the back. Paradox grinned as he sat down and looked at the cake, he wanted a bite.

“Can we have some cake?” He asked.

Rainbow Dash looked over at Paradox she had tears running down her cheeks. “Just wait, I’m having a moment here.”

He started to laugh deeply and saluted. “Yes ma’am.”

“Silver, you married a smart aleck.” Rainbow smiled between sniffles.

“I know.” Silver smiled because she had started to cry too.

Both stopped embracing and walked over to sit down. “Ok, we’ll have cake now.” Rainbow stated as she took in a deep breath. Paradox held a chair out for Silver to sit and went over for his mother-in-law to pull out her chair, but she sat down before he could. He sighed and went to sit back down.

Paradox walked into the kitchen and sat down silently followed by Fluttershy and Discord. Discord rubbed his paw and claw together happily when Silver placed a plate of crepes in front of him. She placed a plate in front of Fluttershy and then Paradox. “Eat up!” She said cheerfully as she flapped her wings as she sat down and pulled a plate of crepes to her.

She watched as Discord was eating the crepes with gusto. “Silver, these are really good.” He said with his mouth full.

Fluttershy daintily cut the crepes and ate little bites. She smiled at her daughter-in-law. “They have so much flavor… very juicy too.”

Paradox looked at his crepes, it was his favorite and he didn’t have an appetite, although they looked really delicious. He looked up at his wife and she was smiling.

“It’s your favorite.” She said to Paradox and her smile faltered a little when she saw his look. “Is… there something wrong Doxy?”

“Nothing is wrong.” He muttered as he made himself eat the crepes.

“Are you sure?” She asked. “You look… upset.”

“I’m alright. They taste good Silver. I always love your cooking.” He smiled weakly.

“Ok.” She said as she ate hers.

They ate in silence for a moment until Snafu started to get fussy in the baby sling. Fluttershy smiled. “It’s okay Snafu, I know it’s time for your nap.” She got up from the table. “Thank you for breakfast Silver. It was really delicious.”

“It was fun to make breakfast for you!” Silver smiled as she placed her fork down and started to take the empty plates from the table. Discord had summoned a newspaper from thin air and he was reading it upside down as he sat back. Paradox just sat forward and was poking half of an uneaten crepe with his fork. She placed her hoof on his plate. “Are you done Doxy?”

“Silver, you’re pregnant.” He said as he put his paw on her hoof.

Several things happened all at once. Plates fell onto the floor from Silver’s hoof. Discord dropped the paper and placed his paw on his forehead in exasperation and Fluttershy squeaked at the plates falling on the floor and Snafu started to cry loudly at the noise of plates shattering. In that few seconds’ total chaos reigned in the kitchen. Discord smiled slightly under the exasperation and shook his head as the noise settled. “Total chaos… I applaud you on your timing Paradox.” He clapped.

“Sorry…” Silver whispered as she started to pick up the plates that she dropped. Her thoughts were spinning, she didn’t hear Dox right… did she? “I’ll clean this up… I’m sorry, I’m so clumsy.”

Paradox got up quickly and started to help Silver pick up the dishes. “It’s alright, Silver. I’ll clean this up.” He used his magic and cleaned the dishes off the floor making the larger shards float into a trash can. “I didn’t mean to startle you.” He whispered to her.

She sat back and looked at him as he picked little pieces of plate off the floor with his claws. “Doxy, what did you say? I think I heard you wrong.” She asked.

Discord looked under the table at them. “Paradox is suffering from hoof in mouth disease.”

Paradox pushed his father’s muzzle back. “Dad… Let me talk to her.”

Fluttershy grabbed Discord’s shoulder while she tried to sooth Snafu. “Come on.” She said to him. They left the kitchen leaving Silver and Paradox sitting on the floor looking at one another.

“Please, what did you say?” Silver repeated her question.

Paradox gave a small smile. “Well, remember when I said that I felt something odd and I had to ask Dad what it might have been?”

“Yes?” Silver nodded.

“I asked him…” He inched closer to her and reached over to her. “Come here.”

She moved closer to him and was surprised when he placed his paw on her stomach. “Doxy?”

He looked into her eyes as he slowly caressed her belly fur. She sighed softly at his touch and leaned closer to him, he gave her a soft kiss on her lips as they pulled apart he swallowed. “I love you, and while our cottage is being fixed, we’ll need a nursery built in… because you’re pregnant with our foal.”

She blinked at him. “How do you know this?”

“I’m a draconequus.” He smiled. “I hope you don’t care… I’m scared, but we’re going to be… parents.”sohappy

She started to cry; her tears were slowly running down her cheeks as she looked at him. “This makes me happy. Doxy… I am so happy that you and I are going to be parents!” She hugged him tightly and he started to laugh at how happy she was as he returned her hug tightly.

Paradox yawned and stretched as he put his arm around Silver but he suddenly gasped. She wasn’t there and he jumped up. “SILVER!”

“Sssssilver isn’t here. Come on Paradox, you need to come back to me… Didn’t you enjoy drowning in your dessspair?” Long shadowy tendrils rose around him and Paradox gulped.

“Go away.” Paradox closed his eyes. “Lilly saved me from you.”

“Come with me… I’ll ssshow you what they all really think of you…” The shadow grabbed Paradox’s wings and wrapped around them. “You’re a monsssster… ssshe will never marry the monssssster that dwellsss within your sssoul…”doxnightmare“NO! I’m not going with you! NO!” Paradox sat up in his bed and started gasping he looked around in his bedroom and saw Silver looking at him worry on her face.

“What happened Doxy?” She asked.

“Oh! Silver, you’re here… My sweet love.” Paradox put his fingers through her mane. “Don’t leave me Silver, please.”

“I’m here Dox, I won’t leave you.” She leaned against him. “I love you.”

“I love you too. Don’t leave me. I’m not really a monster, I’m not.” He gulped as he looked into her eyes.

Silver kissed his muzzle. “I know you’re not a monster. I know who I fell in love with.” She stared into his beautiful blue eyes as she kissed him. “I will forever think about how I can fly in the blue of your eyes getting lost but yet never lost because I would be a part of you forever.”

He sat up and pulled her to him. “Silver, its back, and it wants to drag me down again, I have to tell Lilly and Dad.”

“What is it?” Silver asked.

“I don’t know… but it said it needed me to fall back into despair again.” He let out a shuddering breath. “I don’t want to go back… I don’t ever want to be in that darkness again. I had nightmares that would last for days or weeks at a time. A demon would haunt me in those nightmares. I couldn’t see this demon, but he’d be there, whispering poison into my ears. At times I would think it was best if I just ended my life. I almost did a few times. I don’t want to be there again Silver. I don’t.”

“I won’t let it get you Doxy.” Silver said gently. “I’m here for you.”

Fluttershy awoke in a panic. “Oh my goodness!” Her heart was racing and she was shaking all over.

Discord was instantly alert. “What is it? Who’s there?” He asked in the darkness until he realized it was his wife that was shaking. “Fluttershy? What is it?”

“I had a bad dream, but it seemed so very real.” She started to shiver.

He put his arms around her and pulled her to him. “Tell me about it. It might be nothing. Do you remember any of it?”

“I remember running away and my wings were gone and I…” She leaned against him. “It scared me.”

“Almost sounds like you were dreaming of our first meeting.” He chuckled.

She shook her head, “No. I was scared then, but this was… worse.”

“Okay Fluttershy, let me calm you.” He whispered as he placed his claw over her head moving his fingers though her mane softly. She usually thought he did that to soothe her but what he really was doing was entering her dreams.headmassageDiscord stood in Fluttershy’s dreamscape he looked around and saw a few doors. He strolled through them; they were well organized and labeled appropriately. “Animals, birds, insects, love, Discord, food, recipes, friends, pregnancy, dragons, monsters, shadows, strange noises…” from happy to scary dreams. He stopped at the door that read: recent dreams. Placing a paw on it he opened to door slowly and walked in.

Fluttershy was running quickly and suddenly ran right into him. “Oh my goodness! Discord!” She was panting. “We have to run! Please run.” She looked behind her with panic in her eyes.

He looked at what was approaching and saw nothing. “Fluttershy, there’s nothing there.”

“No its there! Go Discord! Please!” She wiggled from his grasp and ran off.

“It’sss you!” A voice whispered to him.

“The shadow?” Discord’s eyes narrowed. “What’re you doing in my wife’s dreams?”

“The quessstion isn’t that, it’ss what are you doing in her dreamsss?” The shadow started to loom up above him. “We’d love to invade your dreamsss maybe we’d get you to be on our ssside.”

“I doubt that.” He frowned as he looked at the shadow closer, for a moment he could have sworn it sounded like… He shook his head. “Leave my family alone.”

“Discord? What are thou doing?” Luna said as she walked into the dream.

Discord pointed at the shadow. “This is trying to come back.”

The shadow suddenly started to cringe and recede at the sight of Luna. “Hisss.”

She looked at Discord. “I’ll handle it. Please Discord let Fluttershy know that she is safe as long as I’m around.”

“Thank you Luna.” He blinked and was out of the dream and back in bed slowly rubbing Fluttershy’s mane.

“Discord, that feels so wonderful.” Fluttershy murmured as she cuddled up against him. She had no idea he’d gone into her dreams.

“Do you feel better?” He asked her softly continuing to rub her mane behind her ears and down her neck.

“Knowing that you are here, I feel better.” She whispered and yawned.

“Luna will protect you in your dreams.” He whispered to her. “I’ll protect you here.” He rubbed down her back between her wings and moved his paw to her pregnant belly. “I only want you to be happy, healthy and relaxed. I love you and our family.” He frowned as he recalled the voice of the shadow. It sounded like some pony familiar.

Paradox and Silver Dash arrived at the Clover Café a little late. Rainbow Dash actually didn’t mind since she was sitting at a table with Apple Jack and her unicorn son Crispin. Silver and Dox approached the table.

“Sorry we’re late Mom.” Silver apologized as she sat down in the chair that Paradox held out for her.

“It’s okay.” Rainbow Dash shrugged. “I’m with good company.”

“My goodness.” Apple Jack spoke up. “You two have sprouted like weeds.” She looked at Paradox. “You are almost a spitting image of your father.”

Paradox smiled and rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m not as good with magic as dad though.”

Crispin’s ears went up. “I can do magic.”

Apple Jack looked at her son. “Not at the table.”

“Aww, Ma.” He sighed and was quiet again.

They talked a while and ordered their food. After dinner Paradox was trying to go through ways to ask Silver to marry him in his mind. He looked over at Crispin and leaned over. “Hey Crispin… can we talk?”

Crispin nodded. “Yep.”

Paradox got up from the table. “Crispin and I are going to get desserts.” He waited as Crispin got up and they both walked up to the bar of the cafe.

“What’s up?” Crispin asked.

“I need an idea on how to ask Silver to marry me.” He said.

Crispin blinked. “Just ask her?”

Paradox shook his head. “No, it has to be awesome and romantic.”

“Dox, you’re asking the wrong pony. All I want to do is hang out with Sprinkle Icing; she makes the most delicious cookies.” He smiled.

“You only like her for her cooking?” Paradox asked.

“Oh no, I love her, but she doesn’t love me back.”

He stared at Crispin. “Have you told her?”

Crispin looked back at his mother, Rainbow Dash and Silver. “Should I?”

Paradox shrugged. “It’s up to you. You won’t know if she loves you unless you tell her yourself.”

Crispin shuffled his hoof. “I’m not good with my words. I guess I’m almost like uncle Big Mac.”

Paradox turned and ordered desserts for every pony. “You’re talking to me.” He replied to Crispin.

“That’s different. You’re my friend.” Crispin smiled.

“So is Sprinkle Icing.” He smiled back at him. “Think about that. My mom and dad were friends before they got married.” He grabbed a couple bowls of desserts and Crispin used his magic to hover the other desserts back to the table.

“Sorry I couldn’t help you more.” Crispin said before they got to the table.

“It’s okay buddy.” Paradox grinned. “I’ll figure it out.”
