Silver looked at the trophy for second place Paradox got for racing her mother. He had placed it on a shelf with his thank you plaque for helping with putting up decorations in the town hall and a statue for most memorable performance in a Broadneigh play. She looked over at him as he leaned back on the couch and held Selene and Solana. Selene was placing her paws on his muzzle as he was making faces at her. Solana was napping on his chest.
“Do you ever feel like you were cheated out of a cutie mark?” Silver asked him suddenly.
He looked at her. “What?”
“You never got a cutie mark. Why?”
Paradox blinked. “I never dwelled on it.” He said. “I figure it’s because dad doesn’t have one and I’m a draconequus. Why do you ask?”
“No pony ever teased you or your sisters?” She asked.
He started to laugh. “Anyone teased Grace she’d predict their demise… and…” He paused as he slowly placed Selene on the couch as he sat up. “Why does Lilly seem to slip my mind?” He shook his head. “I guess it wasn’t that big of deal for us.”
“Do you think our little girls will get cutie marks?” She said as she walked over to him.
He looked at Solana napping on his lap and at Selene who was playing with strands of his tail running her paws along his hair and smiling. “The only thing not pony about them are their paws. They might get cutie marks or not… I’m not sure. What are you afraid of?”
“I’m afraid they’ll be teased about it.” She whispered.
He looked at her. “Silver, I don’t believe they’ll be teased, I’m sure they’ll get along with most of the ponies here in Ponyville.”
“I just want them to be happy. I don’t think they should worry about getting a cutie mark. If they don’t have to.” She looked at Selene.
“When they are older we’ll explain it to them if they ask. It’s all we can do.” He placed his paw down next to Selene and started to move his fingers fast along the couch to make her pounce on him. She pounced and dug her claws into him. “Ouch…” He whimpered. Selene giggled.
Silver laughed. “Serves you right. Teasing her.”
“I wasn’t teasing her, I was playing with her… Her claws are sharp.” Selene made a loud growling noise as she gripped his paw with her front claws and bit his thumb. “Hey!” Paradox yelped as he tried to extract his paw from her grip. She growled more and bit his other paw. He looked pitifully at Silver. “Help?”
Silver laughed and put her hooves up. “Sorry, this is between you and your daughter.”
Scarlet Grace sat across the table from her parents she tapped her claw on the table as she waited for her husband to get into the room. “Sorry, um but he witnessed Scarlet’s prediction I was just along for the ride.”
“Nothing to worry about dear.” Fluttershy smiled at her daughter.
“I’m here, I apologize for being late.” A young Pegasus pony came into the room he had a dark gray mane and a bright orange coat; his cutie mark was a pair of wings. He walked over to Scarlet Grace and gave her a kiss. Discord sat up slightly then remembered that his daughter was married and sat back.
“Flight Strike?” Fluttershy asked him. “What was Scarlet’s prediction?”
Scarlet Grace’s husband looked at Fluttershy. “Well, it was last night and Gracie was making some salad when she dropped the spoons. I was surprised but I saw she was having one of her episodes, so I watched and listened to her.”
“What did she say?” Discord asked as he sat up again.
Flight Strike looked at his father-in-law warily. “I… um…” He swallowed hard.
Scarlet Grace placed her paw on him and smiled. “Dad, you’re scaring him again.”
Discord folded his arms. “I’m not sorry; he’ll have to get over the fact that I’m intimidating.”
Fluttershy smiled as she flapped her wings. “Flight Strike, just tell me, okay?”
He looked at her and he visibly relaxed. “Sorry but anyway; Scarlet said: There is a wall, the reign is not ending. The shadow will return.”
Discord stood up and Flight Strike shrank back. “Was that all she said?”
“Yes, I’m sorry I really tried to pay attention.” He whispered and walked slightly behind Scarlet Grace.
“For a pony that married some pony that looks almost like her father, you sure are nervous around me.” Discord grinned. “Scarlet Grace resembles me. Why are you more frightened of me than her?” He asked as he loomed over Flight Strike.
“You’re her father, I respect you and… you’re scary. Scarlet is so beautiful, sweet and kind.” Flight Strike answered with big eyes.
Fluttershy started to giggle.
Discord looked at her. “What? Am I not beautiful, sweet and kind?”
“In your own way.” Fluttershy replied still giggling.
Scarlet Grace hugged Flight and kissed his cheek. “Dad isn’t that scary.”
“Says you, he’s your father.” He grinned up at Discord. “Sir… dad… Um can Scarlet Grace and I go now?”
Discord frowned. “No.”
Scarlet Grace looked at her father in shock. “Dad, why?”
He pouted at Scarlet Grace. “It’s like you don’t want to see me anymore. The first to leave the nest, the first to be married. Makes me sad.”
“Don’t be sad.” She grinned. “It’s okay Dad, Flight just wants to pick up some things in Canterlot. Besides I’m not the first in everything, I was the last born.”
Fluttershy looked up. “Not for long.”
“What?” Scarlet looked at her mother. “Mom? Are you saying?”
Fluttershy was blushing as she smiled and nodded. “Yes.”
Scarlet got up and walked around the table to hug her mother. “I’m going to be an older sister!” She hugged Fluttershy. “This is so exciting! Does Paradox and LillyRose know yet?”
“No.” Discord answered. “Lilly is still gone and Paradox has been scarce today, probably hanging out with your Mother’s guard.”
Scarlet Grace started to blink. “Mother’s guard? You mean Silver Dash?”
Fluttershy nodded. “Yes…” She brought her hoof up and waved it to Discord.
Flight Strike noticed Fluttershy waving and he quickly went to stand next to his wife. Discord’s ears went up and he walked closer to Fluttershy to look at Scarlet.
Scarlet started to blink faster and she suddenly grabbed Discord and her eyes became clouded over. “Nervous tension, someone has feelings, you will be accused, but nothing will come of it. The baby… the baby…” She stumbled slightly and Flight steadied her. “Celebrations, happiness and sadness. The shadow… it waits and will no longer be starved.”
Fluttershy said in a shaky voice. “What about the baby? Whose baby? Which baby?”
Scarlet Grace blinked her eyes again and saw all three of them looking at her. “What? Oh… I have a bad headache. Don’t tell me… I did it again?” She placed her paw on her pregnant belly.
“Yes, you did.” Discord said as he helped his daughter sit down with the assistance of Flight Strike. “Now I insist you and Flight stay here and have dinner with us.”
“What did I, I mean Scarlet say?” She asked as she sat down.
“You grabbed your father’s arm.” Flight said. “Just relax please.”
Discord kneeled in front of his daughter. “Scarlet mentioned a baby, but didn’t say anything more about it. She also said something about celebrations, happiness and sadness. I really wish I could figure out Scarlet’s predictions, but we don’t know the answers behind them until they happen. The shadow was mentioned again, I am not happy to know about the shadow.”
Flight Strike looked up. “What is the shadow?”
“The shadow is the reason Discord is ruling Equestria in Celestia’s place.” Fluttershy explained.
“I thought…” He stopped talking when he looked at his father-in-law. “Never mind.”
Discord started to laugh. “Grace, you never told him?”
“It slipped my mind.” She smiled. “I was busy…”
“Yeah, busy.” Discord made air quotes at the word busy.
Fluttershy hugged Lilly tightly. “Please be careful. I am already worried about you.”
“I’ll be safe Mom. I don’t think I will be gone as long as I was last time.” Lilly tried not to show emotions but Fluttershy just made her want to cry.
Discord placed his paw on Lilly’s shoulder. “Just come back home safely.”
“I will.” She smiled up at Discord. “Sorry, I have to leave at this time.”
“You aren’t sorry; you wanted me to be asleep when you left.” Paradox said as he walked up to her. “But I fooled you, I haven’t fallen asleep yet.”
“Paradox, eleven o’clock in the morning isn’t early.” Scarlet Grace stated.
Lilly approached her sister and hugged her. “Don’t have that little one until I get back. I’ll see you all later. I love you, my family.” She spread out her wings and she swallowed as she flew up into the air.
They had all watched as she flew off and Fluttershy looked up at Discord. “Will she be okay?”
He looked down at her as he placed his claw on her back. “She’s smart, she’ll come back safely.”
Zero stared ahead as he guarded the royal bath house, Lilly, Lady Fluttershy and Lady Scarlet Grace were all within. He stood next to the guards appointed for Lady Fluttershy and Scarlet Grace, one was a young Pegasus mare with a mane of gold and silver, the other guard was a bored unicorn stallion with a black mane.
“My charge is so easy to take care of, as soon as she is with her husband I can take my break.” The unicorn muttered.
“My charge is my aunt.” The Pegasus said proudly sticking out her chest.“Who is your charge?” Zero asked.
“Aunt Fluttershy.” The Pegasus stated proudly. “My mother is one of her friends, so I call her my aunt.”
“I am guessing your charge is the Lady of Chaos?” The unicorn asked Zero.
Zero looked at him and nodded. “Yes.”
“Oh, I hear she is difficult, she hates every pony.” The Pegasus stated. “Which I find odd because Lilly and I used to play when we were little. She was so sweet then, just that… every time a boy liked her, she would do something to scare them away.”
“I hear she has a disposition of a viper.” The unicorn muttered. “Good luck to you then.”
They all suddenly snapped to attention when all three walked from the bath house. Fluttershy was smiling and talking to her daughters lovingly. “I am so glad we were able to spend time together again.” She approached Lilly and hugged her. “I am sorry to hear that you will be leaving in a few days. Please write to me and your father.”
“I will.” Lilly said.
“Why are you leaving again?” Grace asked as she rubbed her swollen belly. “Paradox is better and you are leaving again. You probably won’t see the baby born too.”
“I still haven’t found what I am looking for.” Lilly stated and smiled lightly at her Mother and sibling.
“What if, what you are looking for isn’t out there, but here?” Grace asked.
“Then I shall find it later than sooner.” Lilly answered, she stretched her bat wings as she suddenly turned to her guard. “Zero. I am going for a flight by myself. I will be at my room later.”
“Wait.” Fluttershy stated before her daughter took off. “I need you to meet my guard!”
Lilly looked at her mom lovingly. “Okay…” She turned to look at the guards and she smiled suddenly. “Silver Dash!”
The Pegasus guard bowed to Lilly and Lilly shook her head. “Silver! You don’t need to bow! How is Aunty Rainbow?”
Silver started to blush deeply. “Well you know… She is always trying to whip the new Wonder Bolt recruits into shape. I am just glad she let me become a royal guard. It’s easy taking care of Aunt Fluttershy.”
“Well, I can think of no one better.” Lilly smiled and gave her friend a hug. “Give your mother love from me.”
“I will. I am so glad you remembered me.”
Lilly smiled some more which shocked the unicorn guard and Zero. “I cannot forget one of my best friends.” She then looked over to her mother and her sister. “Thank you Mom. We’ll talk later.” She spread out her wings and she flew up into the sky. Zero put his head down and sighed deeply.
Fluttershy and Scarlet Grace both walked off, their guards following them, Fluttershy had a friendly conversation with her own guard. Zero started to trot off quickly, he knew if he showed up too late Lilly would reprimand him, so he rushed as he trotted through the castle to the tower where Lilly’s room was.
He was panting as he arrived at the tower where she usually retired for the night. He walked into her room and started to get the room all ready for her. Lighting candles, throwing more wood onto the fire and making sure the place looked perfect for her. He smoothed out the sheets on the bed and trotted out the doorway of her room then stood stoic and still.
She landed delicately on the balcony and trotted past Zero without even looking at him. She walked in her room; clicking her tongue the door slammed shut behind her.
Zero sighed deeply and relaxed a little bit. Suddenly the door opened again, he heard her tongue click and he was magically pulled into the room and the door shut again.
“I commend you on getting my room ready Zero.” She smiled as she walked over to him. “You even smoothed the sheets on my bed.”
“I do what I can… Lilly.” He nodded. “It’s what is required of me.”
She thought his same reply was quite funny as she chuckled. “So if I required you to get in the bed… you would?”
“Of course.” He tried not to blush as he looked at her… she was slowly walking around him as if sizing him up for something.
“I am going to be leaving in a few days and I am curious as to what you will be doing while I am gone.” She moved close to him and he suddenly felt her long tail curl slowly around one of his legs briefly.
“I don’t know.” He honestly answered as he stepped slightly to regain his balance.
Her tail seemed to have a mind of its own as she talked to Zero. It slowly snaked up his back leg and started to rub up against him. He gulped in air as he felt her tail slowly rub against his growing need. “So, I am guessing that you won’t miss me then?”
He felt his temperature rise as she moved closer to him. She slowly tilted her head and pressed her lips against his. She pushed her tongue into his mouth and he kissed back their tongues entwining.
The door to the room opened suddenly with a loud bang. Lilly quickly pulled away from the kiss with Zero her tail untangled instantly from around his body. She clicked her tongue as quietly as she could and Zero felt her magic tingle around him he looked around confused and saw her place her hoof against her lips. “You are paralyzed temporarily. Don’t worry.” She whispered to him.
Discord walked into the room. “Lilly? You are leaving again? When were you going to tell me?” He looked around the room and saw the guard standing there. “Oh… Lilly were you talking to your guard?”
“Yes, I was giving him instructions in how to take care of my room while I was gone.” She looked at her father and felt so vulnerable. “I didn’t think you would have a problem with me leaving again. Mother seemed comfortable with me leaving.”
“No, she isn’t.” He rubbed his muzzle. “Your mom is worried.”
Lilly sighed as she glanced over at Zero. “I am sorry she is worried, but… I must go. I have to find my destiny.”
Discord tapped his hoof and looked around her room then he looked at the guard. He approached Zero and looked at him. “LillyRose…”
Lilly looked at him. “Yes Father?”
“Paralyzing your guard? Why?” He poked Zero with a claw.
Lilly blushed and looked away from Discord. “No reason.”
“Then… you wouldn’t have a problem with me doing this.” He snapped his fingers and Zero suddenly collapsed to the floor and let out a deep breath.
Lilly stood there, her cheeks burning with a blush. “Dad, why did you do that?”
Zero suddenly stood up. “Sorry Lady and Lord… May I leave?” He started to back out of the room as fast as he could.
“STOP!” Discord commanded.
Zero stopped in his tracks and he started to sweat as Discord approached him. “Yes My Lord?”
Discord frowned and suddenly smiled as he handed Zero his helmet. “You dropped this.”
“Thank you my Lord.” Zero took the helmet jammed it on his head and made himself scarce.
Lilly frowned. “He was my guard.”
“Just because he is your guard, really doesn’t make him your sex toy Lilly.” Discord muttered to her. “Don’t do that to them. They have feelings too.”
She gasped. “How did you know?”
Discord sighed and looked at her. “Do you think I am that clueless?”
She didn’t answer as he walked over to the door and looked out, he then shut it. “I’m your father first and foremost, when I found out that you had been with that guard I wanted to kill him. Your mother though she’s was all: Discord your daughter is older now and she can make her own decisions…” He did a perfect impersonation of Fluttershy. “So today I was hoping to catch you before you did anything so you’d stop playing around with that guard’s feelings. Unless of course you love him then all this is a moot point.” He sighed as he looked at her.
Lilly shuffled her hooves, she hadn’t had to listen to her father give her a lecture in a long time and she hung her head. “That is why I am leaving.”
“Because you have feelings for a guard?” His ears went forward.
“No, um maybe. I just don’t know Dad. I need to do something; the ponies here fear me except for Zero.” She looked up at her father and she had some tears in her eyes. “I want to find somewhere that doesn’t shun me because of yours and my reputation.”
“I’ll have you know I have a very good reputation.” He grinned and then got serious again in a blink of an eye. “You are not a villain you are trying to keep Equestria safe, just because the ponies here don’t understand our intentions doesn’t mean they fear us. They are more afraid of the unknown; Luna alleviates a lot of those fears. Maybe you should sit on the throne a few hours and see if these ponies really fear you. I don’t envy Celestia any longer after being in charge now.” He placed his paw on his face and looked worn out. “If you want to leave you can, I only want you to know that your mother and I have your best interest at heart. It was so nice that you did return when your mother was at her wits end; Paradox was in a very dark place before you came back. I thought we’d lose him.”
Lilly shuffled her hoof again. “Dad, I would have felt terrible if anything bad had happened to Paradox. He was the reason why I left to begin with. I had to find a way to make him happy again. When he was in that dark place; made me feel like I was in that same dark place and felt like I was drowning.”
Discord sat down heavily on the chair nearby. “How did you come to the realization that we are all monsters?”
She sighed heavily as she focused on the fire in the fireplace. “You told me that there were a lot of different creatures out in the world. I came across one. Some weird bird deer cross breed. He made me realize that we are all… monsters but not all monsters are evil. So, I am going to search out this creature again, I have questions for him that I need answers to.”
Discord blinked in shock. “A peryton? You seek answers from a peryton? Lilly, be careful… perytons can be a little unpredictable.”
“Like the Lord of Chaos?” Lilly asked.
Discord looked at her and smirked. “Yeah, I can be unpredictable, except when your mother is involved, she can predict me. I still don’t know how she does it.”
“Probably from being around you for so long.” Lilly said. “So what do you know about perytons?”
He shook his head. “I don’t know a whole lot about them. The pony you should ask is your mother.”
“No, I don’t want to ask her. I’ll try to find him in the last place that I met him. I won’t leave yet Dad. I will stay for a few more days. I am sorry I did what I did… I will not do it again.”
Discord stood up. “Okay Lilly, I guess we’ll appoint you a new guard, unless you really do care about Mr. Zero?”
“I don’t know Dad.” She was blushing. “He knows what I like and he’s not afraid of me.”
“I’m sure…” Discord made a face. “A new guard it is.”
She stared at him in shock. “But…”
“I have made the decision for you.” Discord stated as he walked out of her room. “I’ll let you tell your previous guard the news of his dismissal. Maybe with you telling him it will lessen the blow.”
Lilly frowned. “How do I tell him?”
“Figure it out my little double flower.” He then disappeared.
It took a couple months after Lilly left that things went back to fairly normal. Scarlet Grace had gotten married at the castle, it was a small ceremony and Fluttershy cried a lot; seeing their youngest get married even brought a tear to Discord’s eye. Twilight showed up after reporting that Celestia had took a turn for the worse in the past week and she wasn’t sure how she could make her better. Paradox had started to just go into small spells of just staring off into space and rocking himself back and forth on his bed. Discord had started brooding in the throne room, waiting for any news of Lilly.
Paradox stayed in bed again and Lilly told her friends that she wouldn’t be going out with them for a long while. She sat in the room with her brother she felt ill when she sat with him, each of his heart beats matched hers and she felt like she was in a tunnel flooded with darkness. Even when the outside was clear with birds singing; she felt despair and loneliness.
“Paradox… I want you to know that I will find you a cure. You’re not alone… You’re my brother.” Lilly muttered to him. “I don’t know why I have been feeling sick. Ever since you got ill, I have been sick.”
Paradox looked at her, his eyes were dark rimmed and unemotional. “Just let me get rid of the monster.”
“No. You promised Dad you wouldn’t.” Lilly whispered, “That is why we sit in the room with you. So you don’t hurt yourself.”
“I hurt myself by living another day.” He muttered as he rolled over to look at the wall.
Lilly got up and left the room. “Augh! You make me so frustrated.” She stopped suddenly in the hallway by Scarlet Grace.
Scarlet looked tired as she looked at Lilly; she blinked and her eyes turned blind. “You can’t leave yet Lilly. You are needed in Canterlot.” Grace then shook her head, her eyes turned normal and she frowned at her sister. “Lilly! Where are you going? Dad said not to leave Doxy by himself.”
“I’m not leaving him for long.” She walked behind Grace and pushed her into Paradox’s room. “See you are here. Watch him for your big sister.”
“But… It’s not my turn!” She looked at Paradox lying on his side facing the wall. “Not that I don’t mind sitting and watching my sweet kind older brother.” She muttered as she sat down.
Lilly went down the stairs quickly as she felt a chill down her back. What did Scarlet mean by saying she was needed in Canterlot. Maybe her father would know, she stumbled off the last step of the stairs and fell on her face. “Ouch.”
Discord looked up from the book he was reading to see Lilly on the floor getting up slowly. “It’s easier to walk when you look at where you are going.” He said as he put the book up to read some more.
“Dad…” Lilly said as she jumped up and ran at him in a full gallop only to plow into him making him drop the book and fall backwards out of the chair he was sitting in. “Dad, Scarlet spoke to me.” Lilly panted after she got up.
Discord frowned as he got up too. “No, Scarlet never talks unless it is something very important.” He picked up the book. “Are you sure it wasn’t her faraway voice?”
“I am sure. She told me that I shouldn’t leave and I am needed in Canterlot.” She shook her head as she put her hoof on her muzzle. “I hurt my muzzle.”
“Who’s watching Paradox?” Discord asked.
“Grace.” Lilly said quietly.
“Lilly, you need to take responsibility. Come on.” He went upstairs with Lilly when they got up to Paradox’s room Grace was staring at her brother but he had fallen asleep. “Hey little Grace, what is new?” Discord ruffled Scarlet Grace’s yellow mane.
“Hi Dad. I was just watching Dox for Lilly…” She stood up then stretched her back legs wiggling her dragon toes.
“Thank you for watching him for a few moments.” Lilly said as she sighed and walked past Grace.
Scarlet grabbed Lilly with her claw and then grabbed Discord with her paw, her eyes turned blind again. “You’re needed in Canterlot. The Princess of the Moon needs you, it’s important.” She then shook her head again as she let go of her father and sister. “Dad, I have a headache, can I go to bed?”
Discord stared at Grace and then looked at Lilly. “That was Scarlet.”
“I told you Dad.” Lilly said.
“What are you talking about?” Grace asked as she looked at them. “Oh my head is really hurting.”
“Go lie down Grace.” Discord smiled at his daughter. “I’ll get you something for your headache.”
Grace walked to her bedroom slowly and closed the door behind her.
“Dad, what does it mean?” Lilly asked. “You said that Scarlet only talks when it’s important she talked to both of us.”
Discord still looked shocked. “I… think we need to go to Canterlot.”
Lilly was suddenly flustered, “B… but Dad… I don’t know why me, why do I need to go? I’m scared… Why me?”
He shook his head. “I don’t know Lilly. We have to tell your mother. Stay here with your brother.”
Lilly sat down as she looked at Paradox sleeping. “What is going on?” She asked as she looked at her brother.
Discord reappeared next to Lilly and she jumped slightly. “Alright Lilly, your mom will be up here in a moment. Then we leave immediately.”
“We’re leaving? But… I never been to Canterlot. I… What about?” Lilly started to stutter as tears started to form in her eyes.
Discord smiled down at Lilly, “You’re just like your mom.”
Fluttershy trotted into the room. “Sorry it took me so long… Are you sure you have to go? Grace and I will have to keep an eye on Dox alone.”
“I’m sure Fluttershy my love. Scarlet only talks when it’s important.” Discord kissed her. “Lilly and I will be back as soon as we could.”
“Mom. I love you.” Lilly said nervously as Discord placed his claw on her shoulder and they disappeared.
Lilly felt her soul was ripped up and she laid her head on the table as she looked at her mother. Fluttershy was crying as she looked at her daughter and felt at a loss at what she could do to make her feel better.
Scarlet Grace walked into the room. “Dad and Doxy are gone.” She went over to Lilly, “Are you feeling any better?”
Lilly looked at her sister as she moved her hooves on the table. “No… I don’t feel well. I just don’t know… what it is.”
“So, what do we do?” Fluttershy said as she touched Lilly’s hoof with her own. “Where did they go?”
Grace looked at her mother. “Dad took him to the doctor.” She blinked. “They will be back soon. Don’t blame yourself Mom.”
“What?” Fluttershy said as she stood up to look at her daughter. “Grace, what are you saying?”
Grace shook her head. “I just told you that Dad took Dox to the doctor.”
“You said that I shouldn’t blame myself.”
“I did?” Grace looked confused.
Lilly sat up. “Mom, should we go to the doctors? I can take us there.”
Fluttershy was about to nod when Discord appeared in the room holding Paradox in his arms, Paradox had his arms wrapped in clean bandages and he looked small and miserable. “We’re back.” Discord commented softly as he placed Paradox on a chair.
Paradox slumped on the chair and looked across at Lilly. “I… didn’t mean to…”
Discord frowned when he heard his son mutter those words. “Paradox, you need to get rest.”
Fluttershy ran to Paradox. “Your arms, oh Doxy… what happened?” She looked at his eyes and they looked sad and his luster was gone. “Can I do anything for you?”
“Mom, I tried to get rid of it… but Dad told me to not do it, he told me not to hurt myself, but it’s there.”
“What? What’s there?” Fluttershy asked as she looked at him.
Paradox leaned to her. “You don’t see it?”
“No…” Fluttershy looked scared.
Lilly sat up. “Mom, don’t… it won’t help.” She said in a panic as she felt her stomach lurch.
“I tried to claw it out of me, the monster… I’m the monster and I tried to get rid of it… I didn’t mean to… I didn’t want to… Dad made me promise not to harm myself again.” He put his head down; his mane seemed to turn gray with his mood.
“I feel sick.” Lilly commented as she put her head down as well.
Discord put his paw on Fluttershy. “Paradox needs rest.” He then kneeled next to her and said in a whisper. “I don’t know what happened before, but he tried to do himself a lot of harm. We just have to keep watch over him.”
“Dox, Lilly… You both need rest.” Discord said out loud.
“I’ll be okay.” Lilly said as she sat up again and took in a deep breath. “I’m going to…” She turned pale, stood up and ran out of the kitchen.
Scarlet Grace put her paw and claw on her ears when she heard Lilly retching in the other room. “Ewww. Lilly puked.”
Lilly opened to door to the cottage. She saw Fluttershy coming down the steps and as her mother saw her she looked relieved and scared all at once. “Lilly, your brother, he won’t open the door.”
“I’ll check on him. Is Dad home yet?” She hugged Fluttershy.
“Not yet. He should be soon.” Fluttershy whispered.
Lilly went upstairs and stopped when she saw Grace standing next to the door. “Grace, tell me…”
Grace was only a couple years younger than Dox and Lilly, and they were now in their late teens. Grace was only deaf in one ear and had very limited sight in her eye but she had unusual visions. “He is devastated, hurt, and crushed. Lilly, you can save him, but not today.” Grace whispered in a faraway voice and then shook her head. “He is calling himself a monster.” She said in her own voice.
Lilly hugged her sister, “Thank you. I’ll try and talk to him.”
Lilly tried the handle to the room, it was locked. She teleported in with her magic and she gasped when she saw that all the art work he had done was on the floor torn up and crumpled. She stepped towards him and she heard him sobbing into his pillow. “Dox?” she asked while she approached.
He stopped sobbing briefly as he looked up from his pillow to see his sister looking at him. “Lilly.” He slowly sat up and put his paws to his face. “I locked the door… you shouldn’t be in here…”
“You know you cannot hide anything from me.” Lilly was feeling anger well up inside of her and she didn’t know why. “Stop it Dox.”
“I’m sorry Lilly, I cannot help it.” He cried again. “Just leave me alone, it hurts so bad, I feel myself dying.”
“I’ll get father. He will know what to do.” Lilly said as she walked to the door unlocking it. “Don’t lock the door.”
Paradox growled as he pulled his pillow to him and started to tear into it with his claws ripping it until the feathers started to spill forth. “She was right… I’m a monster…”
